Program overview
This advanced shoulder instructional program is designed to be an interactive learning experience led by renowned sports medicine international surgeon faculty.

The delegates will discuss complex shoulder sports medicine cases with their peers and learn from experienced faculty members who will share their insights and expertise through lectures, live surgical demonstrations, and interactive discussions.
The course will also include hands-on workshops using cadaveric specimens, allowing participants to practice and refine their surgical skills.

- Acquire knowledge and develop skillsets through hands-on cadaveric practice with advanced techniques and instrumentations for the management of various complex shoulder pathologies
- Discover key tips & tricks from expert-level faculty in shoulder repair & management through live cadaveric demonstration with key focus on instability, glenoid bone loss, rotator cuff injuries and biceps tendinopathy
- Appreciate the latest scientific data that supports the different techniques in the field of complex shoulder injuries management using Smith+Nephew latest solutions and technologies

Ivan Wong

Canada

Dr. Ivan Wong is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Health and Human Performance, and the School of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University. He co-directs the Joint Preservation, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship program in Halifax, Canada.

He received his Masters in Academic Medicine from the University of Southern California, and he completed his fellowship with Dr. Stephen Snyder at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute. He is also a certified fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS) and the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM).

He is the current President of the Arthroscopy Association of Canada (AAC) and the Chair of Research at the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). In addition, Dr. Wong is a board member at the AANA, and serves on the editorial board of both the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) and Arthroscopy, the Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery.

Miguel Ruiz Iban

Spain

Head of the Shoulder and Elbow Unit in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal, in Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Miguel Ruiz Ibán received his medical degree in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and completed the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Programme at the Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal.

He completed his PhD, focused in the biomechanics of the lower lumbar spine and pelvis, at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Madrid. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Management of Specialist Care Units at the European Institute of Health and Social Wellbeing. He is an active ESSKA member since 2010.

Dr Ruiz Ibán has lectured extensively at national and international meetings. He has authored numerous books, chapters and abstracts. He has published more than 50 papers in indexed, international peer reviewed journals, including Arthroscopy, American Journal of Sports Medicine, KSSTA, Clinical Drug Investigation, Orthopedics and others.

Christopher Peach

United Kingdom

Shoulder & Elbow Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Chairman of the Research Committee of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society.

Mr. Chris Peach is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Cheshire, who specialises in treating disorders of the shoulder and elbow, and traumatic injuries of the entire upper limb. His area of expertise lies within arthroscopic surgery, which enhances the rapid recovery of sports injuries.

Mr Peach graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine and trained as an orthopaedic surgeon in London, Oxford and the North West. He spent two years undertaking a post-graduate research degree at the University of Oxford, after being awarded the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship, and examined the genetic basis of osteoarthritis of the shoulder.

In 2013 Mr Peach was awarded the British Elbow and Shoulder Society’s North American Elbow Fellowship to further develop his experience in complex elbow surgery in the USA. Mr Peach is the founder of the Cheshire Shoulder and Elbow Clinic, who were recently awarded the best sports injury therapy specialists in the North West at the 2018 Private Healthcare Awards. The clinic was also awarded as the leader in sports injury treatment in North West England in 2019.

Mr Peach continues to teach arthroscopic skills on national courses for surgeons in training.

Teruhisa Mihata

Japan

Director and Associate Professor of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University.

Dr Mihata honed his surgical skills through international training at Johns Hopkins, UC Irvine, and Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, following his graduation from Wakayama Medical University in 1994.

He further distinguished himself as a leader in shoulder surgery through prestigious fellowships with both the American (JOSSM) and European (ESSSE) shoulder societies in 2012.

Berte Bøe

Norway

Dr. Berte BØE defended an orthopaedic PhD at the University of Oslo in 2012 and has been invited to several national and international meetings as a speaker and faculty member for both knee and shoulder surgery. She is the current 2nd Vice President of ESSKA and the Past President of the Norwegian Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow. She is Associate Editor in JISAKOS and Editorial Board member of AJSM, KSSTA, AJSM Electronic Media Board and Video Journal of Sports Medicine. Member of three Committees of ISAKOS. Committee member of SECEC. Reviewer in Arthroscopy. She specializes in Complex Shoulder and Knee Surgery.

Dinshaw Pardiwala

India

Head of Centre for Sports Medicine and Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala is a highly esteemed expert in sports medicine. He recently performed surgery on wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and has treated many notable cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja.

With over two decades of experience, he currently serves as the Director of Arthroscopy and Shoulder Service at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. In recognition of his contributions to arthroscopic surgery, he received the prestigious ICOS John Joyce Award in 2009.
