INSPIRE Fellows Program, a premier educational experience designed specifically for young orthopedic surgeons undergoing sports medicine fellowships.
Over the course of three days, participants will engage in an enriching curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Through a case-based approach, fellows will delve into complex scenarios that reflect real -world challenges, gaining insights from experienced professionals. The program will also include hands-on cadaver sessions, allowing participants to refine their surgical techniques and familiarize themselves with the latest advancements in sports medicine.

- Acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities through hands on cadaveric practice to enhance the alternative procedural techniques related to the treatment of various shoulder repair technique
- Discover key tips & tricks from expert faculty in shoulder repair & management through live cadaveric demonstration with key focus on instability, rotator cuff injuries and biceps pathologies
- Appreciate the latest scientific data that supports the different techniques in the field of shoulder injuries using Smith+Nephew technologies

Ivan Wong

Canada

Dr. Ivan Wong is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Health and Human Performance, and the School of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University. He co-directs the Joint Preservation, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship program in Halifax, Canada. He received his Masters in Academic Medicine from the University of Southern California, and he completed his fellowship with Dr. Stephen Snyder at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute. He is also a certified fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS) and the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM). He is the current President of the Arthroscopy Association of Canada (AAC) and the Chair of Research at the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). In addition, Dr. Wong is a board member at the AANA, and serves on the editorial board of both the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) and Arthroscopy, the Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery.

Fey Leung

Canada

Dr. Fay Leung, MD, FRCS(C), is a highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder reconstructive surgery and joint preservation of the shoulder, hip, and knee. With a B.Sc. in Cell Biology, B.Sc. in Physical Therapy, and a medical degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Dr. Leung has been in practice since 2010. She completed a fellowship in Sports and Arthroscopic Reconstruction at UBC Hospital and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC. Her expertise includes shoulder arthroplasty, rotator cuff reconstruction, knee ligament reconstruction, and hip labral surgery, along with extremity trauma care.

IPS Oberoi

India

Dr. I P S Oberoi is the Chairperson of the Orthopaedics Program and Chief of Robotic Joint Replacement & Arthroscopy Surgery at Artemis Hospitals, Gurugram. He is an expert in primary and revision joint replacement surgeries of the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, and ankle, and a pioneer in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. He has published widely in orthopaedic journals and textbooks, and frequently lectures at international and national conferences. Dr. Oberoi is also a visiting surgeon in several countries, including Yemen and Oman.

Yoshiaki Itoigawa

Japan

Dr. Yoshiaki Itoigawa, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Juntendo University Urayasu Hospital and the Director of the Sports Medical Center. With a medical degree and PhD in molecular biology from Juntendo University, Dr. Itoigawa has extensive expertise in orthopaedic surgery, particularly in shoulder research and sports medicine. He has held multiple research and academic positions, including fellowships at Tohoku University and Mayo Clinic. Dr. Itoigawa has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Takagishi Award from the Japan Shoulder Society and several best paper awards for his groundbreaking research in shoulder repair and rotator cuff surgery.

Travis Falconer

Australia

Dr Travis Falconer is a fellowship-trained upper limb orthopaedic surgeon in Perth, bringing both national and international expertise gained from working with top shoulder and elbow surgeons in Australia and the USA. His practice emphasizes a patient-centered approach, dedicating time to thoroughly discuss conditions and treatments. Travis specializes in all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty, arthroscopic surgeries, and trauma surgeries for sports injuries.

His notable achievements include completing a prestigious fellowship at the Sydney Shoulder Research Institute, additional fellowships in the USA, co-founding the Perth Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Research Institute, and contributing significantly to orthopaedic literature and research. He practices publicly and privately, consulting in West Perth and operating at Hollywood Private Hospital and Bethesda Hospital.
