UKINOR Advanced Wound Management Debridement Instructional Course, 4-5 March 2024, Watford

This highly practical course will provide unique learning opportunity from a panel of expert educators in the area of tissue viability and wound debridement in the UK and further afield. Across the duration of the two days participants will have the opportunity to learn and explore a range of different subjects as well as practice debridement techniques, ask questions and discuss approaches under the guidance of experts.

Wound bed preparation is a concept that manages current practice for the treatment of chronic wounds by removing the barriers to healing.

These barriers are defined as 4 clinical observations within the wound:

  • Tissue non-viable or deficient (T)
  • Infection or inflammation (I)
  • Moisture imbalance (M)
  • Edge of wound non advancing (E)
This time principle provides a systematic approach to the management of wounds and leads to an optimal well vascularised wound bed to create a viable wound bed where healing can take place. This facilitates the effectiveness of other (advanced) therapeutic measures.
